The hunt is over.
Stag is the beer for those who take life by the horns. Brewed under special conditions that enhance the barley malt’s natural flavor, Stag corrals the hop’s zest with the simplicity of pure Midwestern grains. Stag originated in 1907 when Western Brewery hosted a consumer contest to name its new beer. By 1934, Stag had become the best-selling beer in St. Louis, out-selling Falstaff and Budweiser. Sales continued escalating and by the early 1950’s, Griesedieck Western was the 11th largest brewing company in the U. S., with Stag beer being sold in 22 states. Sales continued to be strong for the next several years, as popular advertising campaigns featuring the cartoon character Mr. Magoo continued drawing attention to the brand.
Stag continues to refresh beer drinkers in Illinois and Missouri. Stag – Golden Quality Since 1851
